Diwali was celebrated with a lot of excitement all over the country. Aggar Tum Na Hote actors Simaran Kaur and Tushar Chawla, who play the characters of Niyati and Anand, respectively, in this Jatin Sethi, Mahesh Pandey and Piyush Gupta production, shared how they celebrated the festival of lights.
“I love Diwali… everybody is dressed in amazing Indian ethnic attire, everything is lit and beautiful around you. And those tasty sweets that you get to eat during Diwali. I believe in sharing this happiness. So this Diwali, I gifted sweets to underprivileged children around my apartment. I really feel fortunate that God has given me enough to share. I also gave them new clothes, food and blankets to make them comfortable during the cold. I truly believe in doing our bit as much as we can,” she said.
Tushar too was happy talking about the significance of Diwali in his life. “Mere liye diwali ka matlab hai aapno sey milna, unke saath kimti samai bitana… It's not that I don't talk to them throughout the year but because of how busy everybody is these days, we meet and talk just in bits and pieces most of the time. One of the things that I like the most about Diwali is getting dressed, decorating and lighting up the house, playing games with the loved ones, and eating that delicious Diwali dinner with everybody. Being a Punjabi, everybody eagerly awaits that hearty Punjabi dinner with the family,” he added.
Revealing how he celebrated Diwali, he shared that usually he meets his cousins, maternal aunts, paternal aunts etc on the day. “However, lately we have all started gathering and celebrating at any one relative's house. So we met for the night at a relative's home and my
close friends during the day," he shared.
So what is his favourite Diwali memory? “It’s whenever dad used to take me and my brother to buy firecrackers. We used to hop onto his scooter and roam around old Delhi’s Chandni Chowk for good crackers. Dad would buy all kinds of firecrackers for us like anar, phuljhari, chatpati, rocket, sutli bomb and so on. We used to get scared burning those crackers but dad was always there with us, helping and supporting us. Now, we do understand how firecrackers affect the environment, so we must move to green crackers,” he said.
